Driver Configuration Guide


Kingo Android Root has every intention to be cover-it-all, but you know, accidents happen. Sometimes you will encounter "DEVICE NOT CONNECTED" error, which is often caused by driver configuration issue. Here is an guide on how to resolve it by yourself.


Step 1: Uninstall drivers previously installed on your computer

It is highly recommended that remove all drivers installed previously, which may have been attempted to configured, to make sure driver configuration goes fine this time.

  1. Plug your device into your computer, USB Debugging enabled.

    Settings > Developer Options > Check USB Debugging

  2. Launch Device Manager.

    Windows > Control Panel (Viewed by Large icons) > All control panel items > Device Manger

    Find your device, or whatever resembles your device, which usually falls into "Portable Device" column. Right click it and select "Uninstall", then check "Delete the driver software for this device" and select "OK".
  3. Unplug your device, Download "USBDeview" and then launch it.

    Use USBDeview to uninstall any (In particular look for devices with Vendor ID 18d1 or 04e8):
    • Android ADB interface devices
    • Samsung USB Devices
    • Google USB Drivers
    • or anything resembles your device
    Right click these devices and select "Uninstall Selected Devices".
  4. Reboot your computer (highly recommended).


Step 2: Configure your MTP drivers
  1. Disable USB Debugging

    Settings > Developer Options > Uncheck USB Debugging

  2. Plug your device via USB

    Wait a few minutes to see if MTP could be auto-configured.

  3. Disable MTP Mode

    Settings > Storage > Menu item in upper right > USB computer connection > Uncheck MTP

  4. Re-enable MTP Mode

    Settings > Storage > Menu item in upper right > USB computer connection > Check MTP

  5. Re-enable USB Debugging

    Settings > Developer Options > Check USB Debugging

  6. Check if you can access your device's internal storage through explorer

    Windows > Computer > Portable Devices > Your device
